Al Ain Zoo welcomes five newborn Arabian Sand gazelles to its collection

Our Arabian Mixed Exhibit is now home to five newborn Arabian Sand gazelles. The three male and two female gazelles were born on March 18, 2012 under the care and supervision of the zoo's veterinary department. Also known as the Rhim gazelle or Slender-horned gazelle, the Arabian Sand gazelle inhabits the desert and semi desert areas. The species is in decline due to illegal hunting, expanding agriculture, competition for food with livestock and fragmentation of habitat through development.

Al Ain Zoo's newsborns:

• Arabian Sand gazelle
• Chital Calf
• Scimitar-horned oryx
• Addax
